I recently returned from the behemoth fashion tradeshow that is WWD Magic in Las Vegas, and wanted to give you all a sneak peek into some of the biggest trends you’ll be seeing this fall. And SPOILER ALERT, there’s a good chance many of these trends will be showing up here at Rollick in the coming months, so stick around ;)!

Embroidered EVERYTHING

This trend has been popping its head up the last few seasons, but is really taking over come this fall. Floral embroidery seems to be the fan favorite, and can be seen on everything from denim, to outerwear, to button-up shirts. I love the contrast between a delicate floral embroidery and a sturdy denim or menswear-inspired shirt.

Not your grandma’s velvet

If you’re like me, traditionally the idea of velvet brings to mind itchy, stiff, and potentially sweaty feelings. NO MORE, my friend! Velvet has gotten amajor refresh, and is being done in the softest and coziest ways. Seen in everything from dresses and tops, to leggings and shoes, it makes such a statement and is the perfect fall/holiday/winter fabric to bring into your wardrobe.

Move over Millennial Pink

You may or may not have heard the term “Millennial Pink”, but it’s been eeeeverywhere this year. From clothes, to home decor, to graphic design, the saturated baby pink color has made a big impact. From what I can see, though, this super hot hue is going to be taking a backseat to a dustier and more grown up version this fall. This dusty rose color is the newest neutral in your wardrobe and can seriously be worn with anything (my favorite combo is paired back to navy or a dark burgundy!). Baby pink has grown up in a big way and is here to stay (at least for this millennial ;) ).

Kiss your skinny jeans goodbye

Okay okay, you can hold onto them for now. BUT, a huge trend I’m seeing is the emergence of new and interesting bottoms silhouettes. If you’ve been around these parts for awhile, you already know my affinity forculottes, and it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere this season. You’ll also be seeing everything from joggers to bell bottoms hit the stores (the latter may take awhile to come to grips with ha).

Getting knotty

You’ve probably been seeing these knot details around for awhile, but let me confirm for you that they were EVERYwhere at the trade show. With the higher waist in most of our bottoms nowadays, hemlines of tops are inching their way up too, and the tie-waist and knot detail is a fun way to add some interest and cinch in your waist.

Funky and chunky sweaters

Chunky sweaters are nothing new (especially to those of us in rainy Seattle). BUT, sweaters are just getting better and better with new and interesting materials and silhouettes, Be ready for some uber-cozy chenille and boucle yarns - and if you’ve never heard of these, trust, you’re gonna love ‘em. Also coming in hot are amazing silhouette details like bell sleeves, lace-up necklines and really unique spins on your classic go-tos.

As much as I’d love to hold onto these long summer days and warm temps, these trends have got me SO excited for fall. Which one is your favorite?? Which one are you not so jazzed about?? It’s always fun to incorporate some trends into your wardrobe, but the best part about them is you making them your own, so get out there and YOU DO YOU!

Cheers!
